Augmented Reality

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology combination the interaction between human and virtual object in live real-world environment. Sometimes, it is also known as mixed reality (MR). AR has created a new way for human-computer interaction.

AR is an extension of virtual reality (VR) but has distinct meanings of VR. VR tends to immerse users with virtual environment (virtual world or computer-generated world); thus, there is no real environment involved. In contrast to VR, AR enable user to see the real-world and allow user to interact with it; thus, it provides a sense of reality and additional information.  

The history of AR can be traced as old as 1957.  With the advancing of technology, AR is getting popular in early 2000. AR research is still ongoing.
